December 22, 2014 01:52 pm | Updated 03:48 pm IST - Kolar:

District Principal and Sessions judge, S. Renukaprasad said mediation centres are being set up in order to facilitate speedy delivery of justice.

He spoke after inaugurating a two-day reorientation workshop for mediators here on Sunday.

District Legal Services Authority (LSA) and district bar association had jointly organised the workshop.

Mediation centres help reduce the burden on judiciary, Mr. Prasad said. Settling the disputes by ensuring reconciliation between the litigants was the main objective of the mediation centre concept, he explained.

LSA secretary Malikarjun Kinikeri underlined the role of advocates in the success of mediation centres.
