With the catchment areas in Kodagu and Mysore districts receiving good rainfall in the last two days, the inflow into the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS), near Srirangapatna, has marginally improved.
The inflow was at the rate of 308 cusecs at 6 p.m. on Sunday. It increased to 400 cusecs at 6 a.m. on Monday, sources at the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd. (CNNL) told The Hindu .
The outflow was at the rate of 881 cusecs in the same period.
Areas upstream of the reservoir too received good rainfall on Sunday. Hence, the inflow rate improved, a CNNL official, who wished not to be identified, said.
The water-level in the reservoir was 64.74 ft against the full reservoir level (FRL) of 124.8 ft. This was sufficient to provide drinking water for at least 15 days in Bangalore, Mysore and other districts, he said.
Meanwhile, the CNNL official hoped that the rising inflow would increase the storage in the KRS and ease the drinking water problem.
Heavy rain was expected in Bhagamandala and surrounding regions on Tuesday. The inflow would further increase in the next two days, sources said.
