Members of Maratha community will stage a silent protest in district and taluk centres, pressing for their long-pending demand that they be brought under the 2A category from the existing 3B category.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, president of Uttar Karnataka Kshatriya Marathana Sanghatana Samiti Keshav Yadav said that although the Maratha community had staged protests across the state to press for their demands, nothing had happened till date.

Mr. Yadav said that due to the “neglect of the community” by successive governments, the community members continued to be economically, educationally and socially backward.

He also said it had now become important to sensitise the community members on the long pending issue and also send a warning signal to the government. He appealed to the leaders of the community to create awareness among the community and get ready for a united fight to take the issue to the logical conclusion.

Samiti convenors R.G. Patil and Balaji were present.
