An unidentified man has been caught on camera walking the corridors of the girls’ hostel of the Government Veterinary College at Chikkahonnenahalli near Hassan.
The CCTV cameras installed in the hostel have captured a person with his face covered walking the corridors in the early hours of December 2. The incident came to light only on Wednesday when the college administration filed a complaint with the Hassan Extension Police.
L. Ranganath, dean of the college, told reporters it was not clear from where the person entered the campus. “The person was seen in the hostel around 2.30 a.m. Almost the entire building is under CCTV surveillance. But it seems he entered the building from a place not covered by CCTV cameras. We have brought this incident to the notice of the police and the authorities of the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries University in Bidar,” he said.
The hostel houses 70 students. This is not the first time such an incident has been reported on campus. There was a similar incident at the hostel on March 30. The police had registered a complaint then as well but could not identify the person caught on camera with his face covered.
