A four-year-old boy was killed by his father who threw him into a lake in Ranebennur taluk of Haveri district, following a marital discord.
The incident occurred at Maidur Plot in Ranebennur taluk on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Harish.
According to the police, the boy’s father, Vinay Basappa Narasannavar (30), committed the crime on Wednesday. Following a marital dispute, his wife, along with Harish, was staying with her parents in Kamadod of Ranebennur taluk since the last few months. Vinay Narasannavar’s alcoholism is said to be the reason for the discord.
On Wednesday, Vinay Narasannavar went to Kamadod and while returning brought his son with him. The police said that the accused, on his return, threw his son into the village lake with a heavy stone tied to his legs.
The Ranebennur Rural Police, who have registered a case under Sections 302 and 201 of Indian Penal Code, arrested the accused, who is now remanded in judicial custody.
