A large number of Maharani’s College students gathered in front of the hostel in the City on Sunday to protest against the irregularities and poor facilities in the hostel.

The inmates of the hostel were not only dissatisfied with deteriorating quality of food, but also alleged irregularities in the mess and health fee collected from them.

In a letter to the Department of Collegiate Education, the students alleged that the hostel authorities were demanding full fees even if the students were away from the hostel for a major part of the month.

Also, the hostel authorities, who collect Rs 50 a year from each student towards medical assistance, offer no such assistance to the students, forcing them to go the hospital even in the middle of the night for medical treatment.

The students urged the authorities to set up a healthcare unit inside the hospital to provide them care during emergencies.
