Lokayukta raids premises of seven officials

Disproportionate assets worth Rs. 8.4 crore found

The Lokayukta police on Tuesday searched the residences of seven government officials in Bangalore, Belgaum, Mandya and Udupi and found assets worth Rs. 8.4 crore that were disproportionate to their known sources of income.

The Lokayukta police found that M.S. Ravi Kumar, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Bangalore, had immovable assets worth Rs. 2.25 crore, including a commercial complex in Yelahanka, and movable assets worth Rs. 43.63 lakh, excluding 6.94 kg of gold and 9.68 kg of silver articles that are yet to be valuated. His disproportionate assets were 498.76 per cent more than his known sources of income.

Immovable assets worth Rs. 95 lakh and movable assets worth Rs. 1.24 crore was found during the search on the premises belonging to Lakshminarasimhaiah, Assistant Executive Engineer, Bangalore Development Authority. His disproportionate assets were 244.1 per cent more than his known sources of income.

The Lokayukta police found immovable assets worth Rs. 1.02 crore and movable assets worth Rs. 32 lakh during the search on the premises of A. Nanjundaiah, Food Inspector (North), Bangalore, and his disproportionate assets were 169.24 per cent more than his known sources of income.

The police found immovable assets worth Rs. 67.78 lakh and movable assets worth Rs. 94.48 lakh during the search on the premises of Y.A. Talwar, RFO, Gujanal, Belgaum. His disproportionate assets were 176.9 per cent more than his known sources of income.

The Lokayukta police found that G.B. Ramachandra, Accounts Officer, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation, Mandya, had disproportionate assets that were 223 per cent more than his known sources of income, including immovable assets worth Rs. 1.08 crore and movable assets worth Rs. 10.06 lakh.

Disproportionate assets worth Rs. 38.78 lakh were found during the search on the premises of H.V. Chandrashekar, Chief Executive Officer, Primary Agricultural Co-operative Society, Hariharapura, Mandya. The disproportionate assets were 430.52 per cent more than his known sources of income.

The Lokayukta officials also searched the premises belonging to Sridhar Nayak, junior engineer, Udupi Town Municipal Council, and found disproportionate assets worth Rs. 39.24 lakh, which were 130.8 per cent more than his know sources of income.

H.N. Satyanarayana Rao, Additional Director-General of Police, Lokayukta, said bank accounts and lockers of the officials and their kin were being searched and the value of the assets found might go up after the audit was completed.
