The Lokayukta police conducted coordinated searches on the properties of 10 government officials in different parts of the State on Friday and uncovered properties worth several crores of rupees that are allegedly disproportionate to their known sources of income. The searches were conducted on 26 premises in Bangalore, Kolar, Haveri, Srirangapatna, Hubli-Dharwad, Chitradurga, and Mudigere.
Among the officials raided, the standout was S.M. Basavaraju, Chief Engineer of Corporate Planning and Waste-water Management, Bangalore, whose properties have been valued at over Rs. 3.3 crore. His properties include a two-storey house in the upmarket HRBR Layout, a three-storey commercial complex in Sahakara Nagar, a 2,500 sq. ft plot in Kacharakanahalli, and two plots in Mysore.
K.V. Sarvesh, Director, Agriculture Department, Bangalore, who is estimated to be worth Rs. 2.14 crore, owns assets that are disproportionate to his known sources of income by 315 per cent. M. Thippeshi, Commissioner of the Hubli-Dharwad Urban Development Authority, who is estimated to be worth Rs. 1.61 crore, owns assets that are disproportionate by 160 per cent.
Syed Anwar Islam, Junior Engineer, Kolar Zilla Panchayat, who has been estimated to be worth Rs. 87 lakh, owns assets that are disproportionate by 185 per cent. Rajabhaksha Garibsab Gudigeri, Assistant Agricultural Officer, Haveri, who is estimated to be worth Rs. 66.82 lakh, owns assets that are disproportionate by 58.52 per cent.
Mohamed Yaseen, Revenue Inspector, Haveri, estimated to be worth Rs. 37.84 lakh, owns assets that are disproportionate by 212 per cent. P.B. Chanabasappa, Executive Engineer, Chitradurga Zilla Panchayat, has properties valued at Rs. 1.23 crore and his assets are disproportionate by 189 per cent.
K. Ramdas, Range Forest Officer, Srirangapatna, has properties valued at Rs. 1.79 crore and owns assets that are disproportionate by 486 per cent.
Chanabasappa, Executive Officer, Mudigere Taluk Panchayat, whose worth was valued at over Rs. 1 crore, owns assets that are disproportionate by 287 per cent to his known sources of income.
