Lokayukta raids eight government staff

Lokayukta officials conducted simultaneous raids on the residences of eight government staff on Wednesday and found assets worth Rs. 7.5 crore that were disproportionate to their known sources of income.

Raids were conducted on 23 premises in Belgaum, Bellary, Bijapur, Hassan, Hubli and Dakshina Kannada districts.

Lokayukta Additional Director-General of Police H.N.S. Rao said investigations revealed that M.V. Rajan Nambiar, Senior Assistant at Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation, Mangalore, allegedly possessed assets worth Rs. 64 lakh that were disproportionate to his known sources of income. The others who were raided were: Shivanagouda Malagouda Patil, associate professor at SSN Arts and Commerce College, Hukkeri; B. Devanand, professor and head of the Anaesthesia Department at VIMS, Bellary; K.R. Prakash, Panchayat Development Officer, Kudligi taluk; Mahantappa Erabasappa Sulibhavi, Principal Accounts Officer, Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam, Bijapur; Subhashchandra N. Puttannavar, Junior Engineer, Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation; G.N. Narasimhamurthy, Assistant Controller, Weights and Measures Department, Hassan, and Omprakash Hegde, First Division Assistant, Bantwal Taluk Office.
