Lokayukta police conduct raids against 5 officials

Raid was in connection with case of misappropriation of Rs. 12.08 crore worth foodgrains

The Lokayukta police conducted raids against five officials who were attached with the Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd, Shimoga, during 2011-12 on Wednesday in connection with a case of misappropriation of Rs. 12.08 crore-worth foodgrains procured under the Minimum Support Price Operation (MSPO) in the same period.

The raids were conducted as part of the investigation into a case the Shimoga Lokayukta police registered recently, based on a complaint lodged by one Y.B. Chandrakanth. He had alleged that officials of the Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd. had helped a private firm to misappropriate 850 tonnes of paddy.

The officials who were raided were K.Kodandarama, District Manager, Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd., Shimoga; C.K. Shivanna, former Managing Director, Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd., now with Lake Development Authority, Bangalore; Ramachandra Raoji, former district manager, Shimoga, now with the Forest Department, Bellary; and H.S. Nagaraj and V. Lingaiah, senior assistants with the Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd., Shimoga.
