Ramanagaram Deputy Commissioner F.R. Jamadar suspended five officials for their alleged involvement in a land scam. The suspended officials are Syed Shakibur Rehaman, (food inspector, Magadi), A.E. Girish and Harsha (village accountants), Koushalya (village accountant, Bhoomi centre), and Avinash Sindhe (second division assistant).
Some farmers had allegedly usurped about five acres and 20 guntas of government land, worth several crores of rupees, at Haralalusandra near Bidadi in the district, by submitting forged documents a few months ago.
Role established
The suspended personnel had allegedly helped them in grabbing the land. Their role was established during the recently conducted preliminary investigation. Based on the investigation details, Mr. Jamadar suspended the accused, sources at the DC office told The Hindu .
Syed Shakibur Rehaman was serving as Revenue Inspector at Bidadi when he and his accomplices committed the crime, sources at the Department of Information and Public Relations (Ramanagaram) said.
The DC also requested the Regional Commissioner to initiate action against Shirastedar Sabeen Taj, while he directed the Assistant Commissioner to conduct an inquiry and submit a report in connection with the scam.
