KSRTC suspends bus services toAndhra Pradesh

State-owned road transport corporations in Karnataka completely stopped operation of their bus services to Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday morning in view of situation in the neighbouring State over the Telangana issue.

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Managing Director N. Manjunatha Prasad told The Hindu that his corporation has stopped operating 490 trips since Wednesday morning.

“Our counterparts in Andhra Pradesh have advised us not to operate bus services till further intimation. Buses are not allowed to cross the State border,” he said.

He added that there were no untoward incident so far.

Meanwhile, the transport corporations have been taking steps to refund ticket fare to those who have made advance reservation, Mr. Prasad said.

Resumption of bus services depends on the situation in the neighbouring State, he said.

North Western and North Eastern Karnataka road transport corporations too have stopped operation of their bus services, he added.
