Village accountantattempts suicide

A woman village accountant attempted suicide at Rajur in Koppal district on Thursday and her condition is said to be serious.

The police have said that Annapurna Pattanashetti (20), who was serving as village accountant at Malekoppa Gram Panchayat, attempted suicide on Thursday by consuming poison.

She has been admitted to the district hospital in Koppal and doctors have termed her condition serious.

Show-cause notice

Police sources revealed that a senior official had issued show-cause notice to Ms Annapurna thrice and allegedly harassed her.

She was reportedly pained over the development and attempted suicide, they said.

Meanwhile, a senior official clarified that show-cause notice was issued to Ms. Annapurna as she was not present on the spot on the day the Central team visited Malekoppa village for assessment of drought.
