Kolar CMC exceeds revenue collection target

The Kolar City Municipal Council (CMC) has collected revenue of Rs. 3.15 crore till February-end this year. CMC president B.M. Mubarak said the civic body had exceeded the target of Rs. 2.79 crore.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, on the occasion of completing one year in office, he said stringent measures by authorities and hard work by the staff helped collect more revenue.

Kandaya adalats were held in localities for the convenience of residents to pay house tax. This was one of the reasons for collection of more taxes, he said. The rent for commercial buildings belonging to the CMC has been revised and the civic body now earns an annual income of Rs. 44 lakh from this from alone, Mr. Mubarak said. The CMC has decided to construct a commercial complex at the old bus-stand area, he said.

The civic body has collected Rs. 3.15 cr., against the target of Rs. 2.79 cr.
