The Moffusil Development Committee (Kolar and Chikkaballapur) of the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) has expressed grave concern over the unscheduled and long power cuts in the district.

Non-availability of quality power has hindered the activities, particularly that of small and medium scale units, located in a number of industrial areas in Kolar district, the

committee’s panel chairman Sriprakasha said in a release.

Many SMEs which migrated from Bengaluru to Malur and other industrial areas in Kolar are feeling the pinch due to long load shedding, Mr. Sriprakasha said.

“SMEs are suffering severely due to the power situation and not able to meet the basic requirement of paying the salaries of their employees and even failing to repay their loans and interest on loans to the banks,” the release added.

The Association has appealed to Bescom and other government authorities concerned to take steps to improve the power situation in the region.
