Gangavati Police in Koppal district on Monday arrested Mohammed Mehaboob (25) for posting a manipulated photo featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi as his profile picture on social media network.

According to police, Mohammed had posted a manipulated photo showing Mr. Modi falling at the feet of Akbaruddin Owaisi, president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and MLA in Telangana Legislative Assembly.

On seeing the picture, BJP activists informed the police and urged them to initiate immediate action.

The police arrested Mohammed, a resident of Gangavati and working in a jewellery shop.

Police have seized his cell phone and are interrogating Mohammed besides ascertaining whether he himself had created the photo or had received it on his social media network.
