Kamala Karikalan is new zoo director

K. Kamala Karikalan, Deputy Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Mysuru Division, on Wednesday took charge as the new Executive Director of Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, popularly known as Mysuru Zoo.

Ms. Karikalan, who succeeds S. Venkateshan, took charge as the Executive Director at a simple function organised on the premises of the zoo.

Deputy Director of Mysuru Zoo N.T. Vijaykumar handed over charge to Ms. Karikalan in the presence of senior zoo officials, including veterinarian Dr. Ramesh.

Ms. Karikalan has expressed confidence in handing the responsibilities with the support of the zoo staff and hoped to improve the facilities in the days to come.
