The two-day, 3rd International Conference on ‘Emerging technologies and Future of Libraries’ would be held at the main campus of the Gulbarga University in Kalaburagi from January 30.
For the first time the conference, organised by the Hyderabad Karnataka Region in collaboration with the Institute of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Studies and research and RAK Medical and Health Sciences University United Arab Emirates (UAE), is being held in Kalaburagi.
Organising Secretary of the Conference and President of the Karnataka State SC/ST Library Professionals Association, Ganapathi Z. Shinde told presspersons in Kalaburagi on Sunday that the conference would be inaugurated by the Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala on January 30.
Municipal Administration and Minority Welfare Minister Qamarul Islam, Rajya Sabha MP Basavaraj Patil Sedam would also be present. Noted Librarian of international repute, Ken Chad, also Director of the Kenchad Consulting in London would deliver the key note address on the inaugural day.
Dr. Shinde said that the theme of this conference was “Emerging Technologies and Future of Libraries: Issues and Challenges”. The conference would provide platform for sharing knowledge and expertise among library and information science community and facilitate strategic directions for building knowledge society to adapt the emerging technologies in libraries for lifelong learning skills to develop excellence.
He said that more than 550 delegates from India and around 15 international delegates and speakers would be attending the conference. A total of 207 papers including some invited theme papers would be presented during the technical session of the conference. Vice Chancellor of the REVA University, V.G. Talwar would deliver valedictory address and Prof. Muttayya Koganuramath of the Central University of Gujarat, Satish Kumar Hosmani, Director of Public Libraries, and Prof. Ramesh babu of University of Madras would be the Guests in the valedictory function.
During the valedictory programme noted personalities in the field of Library and Information Science, Education, Industry, and Traditional folk Medicine would be honoured for their yeomen services in their respective fields.
