Job fair from today

The district administration, Karnataka Professional Training & Skill Development Corporation, JSS Institute, Vaishudeep Foundation and others will host a two-day State-level mega job fair at JSS College campus here from June 25.

Minister in-charge of the district Vinay Kulkarni said that the job fair of such a proportion would be held here after a gap of six years.

This event has been organised with special focus on students of north Karnataka and would have both technical and non-technical job opportunities.

More than 300 companies have already registered to take part in the job mela and the number of vacancies to be filled is over 25,000.

To help the job aspirants take part in the mela, online registration has been launched and so far 10,000 candidates have registered. There is a provision for walk-in-interview also. The administration is expecting not less than 25,000 candidates participating in the mela, he said.

There will be no entry fee and all the aspirants would be given free food by Vaishudeep Foundation. Special bus facility has been made from taluk headquarters to help rural students take part in the job fair.

JSS Finance Officer Ajit Prasad said that interviews and counselling would be held in 12 buildings and 30 rooms in each building. A total of 600 staff would assist to conduct the event.

Deputy Commissioner Rajendra Cholan said a Central Information Centre would be opened to guide the job aspirants.

Apart from MNCs, several domestic companies would be giving the offer letters to the selected candidates at the end of the second day programme.
