Jamaat e Islami Hind (JIH) will send out teams to assess the drought situation in north Karnataka districts.
A 12-member team will visit Bidar next week, Mohammad Atarulla Sharief, state unit president, told presspersons here on Saturday.
Teams have visited eight drought-hit districts already. After the visit, a comprehensive report will be submitted to the state government.
“Some people have told us that the funds released for water supply works were not sufficient and the pace of works was slow. JIH is also considering supplying water through tankers to some areas in Bidar city,” he said.
He felt that the recent communal disturbances in Bhalki and Basava Kalyan could have been averted if the police had taken precautionary measures. A communal harmony committee has visited each of these towns, he said.
State secretary K. M Ashraf, district president Mohammad Muazam and other leaders were present.
