The JD(S) today said it will file a PIL in the Karnataka High Court seeking a CBI probe into the resignation of opposition MLAs allegedly engineered by ruling BJP.
“In a couple of days from now, we will move the court praying for a direction to CBI to investigate into the luring of MLAs from opposition Congress and JD(S),” party’s state unit chief H D Kumaraswamy told reporters here.
He said the CD in his possession containing alleged conversation with JDS MLA Srinivas, offering money and official position to lure him to defect to BJP will also be submitted to the court.
On Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa’s announcement to order a judicial probe into the conspiracy hatched to destabilise his government, Mr. Kumaramswamy demanded that the enquiry also cover the “operation lotus” that the BJP launched soon after it came to power by making seven opposition MLAs to quit to strengthen its presence in the Assembly.
On his purported conversation with BJP MLA Appachu Ranjan from Kodagu district asking to quit the saffron party, he said it could also be brought under the judicial probe purview.
Mr. Kumaraswamy rejected BJP allegations that JDS had held the rebel MLAs, saying “BJP leaders including Home Minister R Ashok and Tourism Minister G Janardhana Reddy went to Chennai and Goa to win back the rebels, but failed. Why are they accusing us now“.
He said he was also prepared to face an inquiry into the BJP charge that JDS got funds from mining lobby to topple the State government.
The chief minister should be blamed squarely for the “political anarchy” prevailing in the State, he alleged and said he would bring out more documentary evidence over the scams of the BJP government in the State shortly.
Heads of religious mutts were roped in by BJP to influence Opposition party MLAs to switch sides, he claimed.
