The former Chief Minister and JD(S) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy, here on Monday, assured people that he would bring in a farmer-friendly agriculture policies that would not allow farmers to fall into debt traps. “We will waive farm loans soon after coming to power and bring in agriculture policies that do not make farmers take loans,” he said. He was addressing the Vikasa Parva rally.
Referring to problems of potato, coconut and ginger growers, and coffee planters, he said the incumbent government had failed to respond to them. “The Congress has not bothered to protect the minorities,” he alleged. Reacting to AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s statement that JD(S) was the B-team of the BJP, Mr. Kumaraswamy said it was the JD(S) which had been posing a tough challenge to the BJP’s growth in the State.
Assuring the people that he would work towards making Hassan a model district in the country, he appealed for suppor. “There is no question of a coalition government this time. The JD(S) will come to power on its own,” he added.
