Traffic snarls were witnessed on the Mysuru-Hunsur highway as a large number of JD(S) supporters headed to Lingadevarukoppal on Tuesday for the launch of the party’s campaign for the coming Assembly elections.
The Mysuru-Hunsur highway to Lingadevarukoppal, situated at a distance of about 13 kms from the city, and a stretch of the Ring Road from the Mysuru-Bengaluru highway junction to Mysuru-Hunsur highway junction was flooded with JD(S) flags, banners, festoons and other publicity material.
As a large number of JD(S) followers displaying party flags on their two-wheelers and other passenger vehicles headed towards the venue of the party rally, a number of supporters stood near junctions enroute to welcome party leaders including former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and his father and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda.
A number of women with Kalasa too were among the supporters waiting for the JD(S) leaders at junctions.
Several private vehicles on the highway were caught in traffic. Vehicle movement became very slow in the afternoon before the arrival of the JD(S) leaders.
Though the rally was scheduled to start at 11.30 a.m., the programme was delayed by more than three hours as the leaders were stopped at many junctions.
