Jayadeva CAO’s order has no sanctity: Siddaramaiah

Clearing the air over powers of director of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences C.N. Manjunath, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said the order issued by chief administrative officer (CAO) C.M. Eswara had no sanctity.

On Monday, Mr. Eswara had issued an order divesting Dr. Manjunath of his administrative and financial powers.

It later turned out that the order was unauthorised and did not conform to the rules as it was not endorsed by the director. Mr. Eswara has since been removed from service.

According to sources in the hospital, the reason behind issuing the order was because of strictures that Dr. Manjunath had imposed on Mr. Eswara over certain questionable actions at the hospital.

Through the ‘fake’ order, Mr. Eswara had even appointed a cardiology professor, N.M. Prasad, as the institute’s additional director claiming that it was according to the Chief Minister’s directions.

In his letter, the Chief Minister said there was no post of an additional director in the institute. If the director felt there was a requirement for an additional director, he could bring the proposal before the governing council, the letter said.
