Members of the Jain community took out a rally for world peace here on Sunday, complete with tableaus depicting messages on peace by various spiritual leaders and Jain rulers.

The tableau also had messages drawing attention to environmental and conservation issues, atrocities against women, water crisis, child labour and so on.

The rally was organised by Sri Sumatinath Jain Shwetambara Moortypoojak Sangh and marked the culmination of a series of rituals and penance undertaken by nearly 330 ascetics since the last 36 days for “world peace and to promote non-violence”.

More than 3,000 members of the community participated in the rally, which passed through the main thoroughfares of the city.

Vasu, Chamaraja MLA, and leaders of the Jain community were present.
