IT, ITES firms ask employees to report early

April 19, 2015 12:59 pm | Updated 12:59 pm IST - Bengaluru:

While some in the IT city benefited through “earned leave” declared by software firms on Saturday, many others still had to make their way to work.

Anticipating the lack of transport services from 6 a.m., a few call centres on Bannerghatta Road asked employees to report to work by the crack of dawn even if their shift started post-lunch. “Those who didn’t want to report at 6 a.m. were strictly informed to arrange on their own transport to reach office on time, (else their absence) will be counted as performance degradation in appraisal,” said an employee on Facebook.

It takes a Bandh day to realize how beautiful Bangalore is with its wide, empty, green roads.

@mainbhiengineer

Bangalore is such a professional city that even if they organize bandh, they do it on weekend to have no effect on IT companies.

@BhaskarNh

I don’t understand this outrage over a day’s bandh. Coming from Kerala, it’s just a normal thing for me.

@rekrishnan

I find it amusing that a state has called a bandh to protest another State’s inaction by shutting it’s own capital down.

@chetdb

Bandh bring back memories of the early 80s when moving on empty Bengaluru roads was absolute joy. Alas enjoy the day
