Continuing its attack on Jnanpith recipient U.R. Ananthamurthy for his remarks against party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday said his remarks showed that he would not respect the people’s mandate, despite being in a democratic set up. “What does he mean by saying he does not want to be alive when Modi becomes PM? Electing a PM is in the hands of the people. His remarks only show that he is not willing to respect the people’s mandate. Is this the way a Jnanpith award winner speaks?” BJP leader D.V. Sadananda Gowda told a press conference in Bangalore.
