April 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - BELAGAVI:

A seminar held here on Sunday brought alive the spirit, values and scholarly pursuits of the early 20th century Urdu and Persian poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

It was organised by Hazrat Sayyed Abdul Basheban Academy, Belagavi.

Speakers from different parts of the State paid homage to the poet and said that the contemporary youth and the society not only celebrated the national heroes but also imbibed the values, message and thoughts they depicted in their works.

Messages

Abdul Hameed Akbar from Kalaburgi highlighted the messages inherent in Iqbal’s poetry such as the “conception of Allah” and the “meaning of prayer”. He also traced the philosophical bond between the 13th century Persian poet and Islamic scholar and a Sufi mystic whose influence transcended territorial borders and ethnic communities.
