Inquiry sought against VTU employees

June 15, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 01:15 pm IST - BELAGAVI:

Karan Kumar, member of the Executive Council of Visvesvaraya Technological University, has written to the Vice-Chancellor seeking an inquiry into the alleged illegalities in the regularisation of contract workers.

His demand comes in the light of a first information report registered by the Belagavi Rural police station based on a complaint lodged by Ashok Shettappa Mattikop recently.

The police have registered a case under Sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code and taken up investigation. In the complaint, Mr. Mattikop alleged that 11 staff in the university had collected bribe for appointment and regularisation.

Though the services of workers were regularised as per a court order, they had been deprived of the benefits promised to them by the accused persons.
