Initiate CBI inquiry against denotification, including me, says Shettar

November 17, 2014 03:19 pm | Updated 03:19 pm IST - Hubballi:

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar has urged Chief Minister to hand over all cases pertaining to denotification of land to the CBI for inquiry including his (Shettar’s) role in the issue.

Addressing press persons here on Monday, Mr Shettar said, “Instead of trying to malign me by dragging my name into the scam, Mr Siddaramaiah should hand over the case to CBI and I urge him to include investigation about my role also. I am ready for it”, he said.

Referring to the recent court order upholding the government’s decision to fix the sugarcane price, Mr Shettar asked the chief minister to initiate the proceedings to get the money due for the sugarcane farmers from the sugar mills paid to them before the start of the winter session at Belagavi. “BJP will raise the issue both inside and outside the legislature session if the farmers don’t get their dues”, he said.

Taking strong exception to the government withdrawing the order for providing materials for ‘Madilu’ kit to the Kanrakata Handloom Development Corporation (KHDC), Mr Shettar alleged that the decision had been taken by the health department in order to benefit few individuals close to those in power.
