Infosys has announced the launch of Comfy, a third party application to monitor and personalise workspace temperature on its Mysuru campus.

With this application, employees can control their workspace temperature as per their comfort using smartphones, laptops and desktops, said a press statement.

“The application works over the building management system and provides instant streams of cool air or warms the space. It also learns from occupant feedback. Employees act as sensors allowing Comfy to save energy by eliminating over-conditioning and turning off air conditioning in unoccupied areas,” the statement added.

When asked how the app helps when different persons are comfortable with different room temperatures, a spokesperson for Infosys said the app facilitates different areas of the same room to have different temperatures.

Infosys campus in Mysuru, spread across more than 330 acres, houses arguably one of the world’s largest corporate training centre with a capacity to accommodate 20,000 trainees, as well as a development centre with more than 5,000 software developers.

The launch of the app was announced in its Sustainability Report, which also highlights the other environment conservation initiatives of Infosys at its Mysuru campus including the installation of smart water meters.

“Smart water meters were installed at Mysuru campus, along with other campuses, and were linked to the central command center for continuous monitoring of water and thereby optimising the water consumption through a data-driven approach. Currently, there are 273 smart water meters installed on its Mysuru campus, making a total of 472 smart meters across its campuses in the country,” the statement added.

Mysuru campus has also witnessed the installation of a composting plant that was part of the 2.5 tonnes per day capacity of composting plants installed across various campuses, the statement added.
