Infosys employees in Mysuru can now monitor and personalise their workspace temperature with the help of an application.
In its recently unveiled Sustainability Report, Infosys has announced the launch of Comfy, a third party application, with which its employees in Mysuru can control their workspace temperature as per their comfort using smart phones, laptops and desktops.
“The application works over the building management system and provides instant streams of cool air or warms the space.
It also learns from occupant feedback.
Employees act as sensors allowing Comfy to save energy by eliminating over-conditioning and turning off air conditioning in unoccupied areas,” said a press statement.
When asked how the app helps when different persons are comfortable with different room temperatures, a spokesperson for Infosys said the app facilitates different areas of the same room to have different temperatures.
Infosys campus in Mysuru, spread across more than 330 acres, houses arguably one of the world’s largest corporate training centre with a capacity to accommodate 20,000 trainees, as well as a development centre with more than 5,000 software developers.
The launch of the app was announced in its Sustainability Report, which also highlights the other environment conservation initiatives of Infosys at its Mysuru campus, including the installation of smart water meters.
“Smart water meters were installed at Mysuru campus, along with other campuses, and were linked to the central command centre for continuous monitoring of water and thereby optimising the water consumption through a data driven approach. Currently, there are 273 smart water meters installed in its Mysuru campus, making a total of 472 smart meters across its campuses in the country,” the statement added.
The Mysuru campus accounts for 464 kW of installed capacity of the total 9.7 MW of solar energy system across campuses, helping the company in building low carbon future.
Also, a food waste to biogas plant with a capacity of two tonnes per day has been installed at the Mysuru campus, taking the total food waste to biogas capacity installed across its campuses including Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad, Pune and Bhubaneshwar to 9.25 tonnes per day.
