Hotels and food businesses with pan-India operations run by four groups came under the Income Tax Department scanner on Wednesday.

As many as 34 premises across Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Faridabad, and Mangaluru were searched by the Investigation Wing of the I-T Department in Bengaluru for suspected undisclosed income and investments.

“Searches are likely to continue for a day or two,” I-T Department sources said.

One of the groups searched on Wednesday has its registered office in Bengaluru, but runs a chain of popular restaurants across several cities in the country.

An official said another group that runs a popular hotel in the central business district of Bengaluru has interests in real estate too.
