I won’t resign: Siddaramaiah

May 17, 2014 11:41 am | Updated 11:43 am IST - Bangalore:

Unfazed by the Lok Sabha election debacle, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said he would not resign, as the results were not a referendum on the performance of his one year of governance or the programmes implemented in the State. He said the people had voted for the BJP on national issues, as they wanted a change after 10 years of a Congress-led UPA government.

Mr. Siddaramaiah, who congratulated Narendra Modi and wished him success as the next Prime Minister, said the BJP won 17 seats as against the 19 in 2009, and the Congress won nine seats as against six, and added that his party lost five seats with a slender margin.
