Santosh Lad, Minister for Labour and district in charge, distributed the housing loan sanction letter to 535 out of 1,344 beneficiaries of Vajpayee and Ambedkar housing schemes here on Saturday.
Pragathi Krishna Gramin Bank, after being persuaded by Deputy Commissioner Ramprasath Manohar, had come forward to extend the seed loan of ₹60,000 to beneficiaries under Vajpayee housing scheme falling in general categories and ₹75,000 and ₹1.2 lakhs to beneficiaries under both the housing schemes belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
The seed loan amount, which is around 50% of the State component, will enable beneficiaries having their own sites to start the construction work and get the remaining instalment in phases. The bank is assured of getting back the loan amount as the instalments would be credited directly to the beneficiaries’ bank account. The beneficiaries should bear the interest component of the loan. They could also get construction materials, including sand, cement, doors and window frames at subsidised rates from the ‘Mukhya Mantri Gruha Nirman Bazar’ established by the district administration here.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lad urged the beneficiaries to start the construction work and complete it at the earliest taking advantage of the welfare scheme of the government. He appealed to them to utilise the loan amount for the purpose it has been given.
He also said that the State government had sanctioned 10,000 more houses for the district. The process of selection of beneficiaries would be completed and the allotment letters would be distributed in the last week of this month, he said.
