A House Committee on Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare took officials to task for laxity in delivery of services to beneficiaries.

Member Somanna Bevinamarad pointed out that 271 applications under Ganga Kalyan scheme were pending since 2009-10. Some farmers are waiting for nearly seven years. He also alleged that the officials were drawing money by fudging documents in the name of fictitious beneficiaries.

Another member J.R. Lobo said serious action would be taken against officials of Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company (Gescom) and Minority Development Corporation if there was a delay of more than three months in electrification of bore wells.
