To ensure that doctors on duty provide better and timely treatment to patients, to avoid attacks on duty doctors and keep constant vigil on visitors to curb stealing of infants from hospitals, the district administration has installed closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in all wings of the district hospital here.
According to sources in the district administration, steps have been taken to install cameras in the emergency ward, the out-patient department, the intensive care unit, the maternity and the children’s wards, the skin diseases unit, the dental wing and the pharmacy, the main entrances and other locations on the premises which outsiders can easily access.
As there were complaints about negligent attitude of doctors and other hospital staff in the district while giving medical treatment to patients and frequent entry of outsiders to the hospital, the district administration has decided to install these cameras to keep constant vigil on the different activities.
District Surgeon K. Jagadish said that the move would play a crucial role in ensuring punctuality of doctors and staff, and providing facilities to patients and visitors. A total of 22 cameras have been installed in the hospital and there are plans to install more, he said.
