The monthly honorariums of the first citizens of Belagavi City and other municipalities in the State would be hiked by two times, said Minister for Urban Development, Haj and Wakf R. Roshan Baig.
The Minister, who was addressing the officials and councillors at the corporation here on Thursday, said that the government had decided to double the honorariums with effect from August itself. However, he did not elaborate further on the matter.
He instructed the corporation Commissioner G. Prabhu to provide new cars to both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
Mayor Sarita Patil, Deputy Mayor Sanjay Mallappa Shinde and MLA Feroz N. Sait were present.
