Heavy rains have disrupted normal life in Gulbarga district. Traffic on the inter-State highway connecting Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh from Waghdhari passing through Gulbarga to Ripponpalli in Andhra Pradesh has been hit due to the overflowing of the bridge across River Kagina near Malkhed.

The flood water in the Kagina is threatening to encircle the brindavana of Madhwa seer Jayatheertha at Malkhed with the water entering the brindavana. There were reports of flood waters entering agriculture fields and damaging the standing crops in several parts of the district. No loos of life has been reported so far.
