The High Court of Karnataka on Monday adjourned till Wednesday further hearing on the petition filed by former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa questioning two corruption cases registered against him by the Anti-Corruption Bureau on land denotification.
Justice Aravind Kumar adjourned the matter citing paucity of time and the ACB assured the court that it would continue its undertaking of not summoning or arresting Mr. Yeddyurappa till the next date of hearing, as it had promised last week.
Earlier, referring to the provisions of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) Act, senior counsel Ravi Varma Kumar, appearing for the ACB, pointed out that the Act does not give any authority to the Chief Minister in acquisition or denotification of land, and it is for the BDA to take decisions. It was also pointed that the identity of the person who submitted a petition to Mr. Yeddyurappa for dropping acquisition of a piece of land could not be ascertained even today.
