This district, which goes to the polls on Wednesday, is all geared up for the elections and all measures have been taken to ensure its smooth conduct, district and police officers said here on Tuesday.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Subbaraya Kamat said that polling booths would be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. In hypersensitive polling booths, the entire voting process would be recorded on video.

Additional Superintendent of Police Yellappa said there of the 1,359 polling booths in the district, 147 had been classified as hypersensitive, 148 as sensitive and 1,064 as non-sensitive. Mr. Yellappa said that there would be 1,400 police personnel, 1,000 home guards and 75 mobile squads. Five Karnataka State Reserve Police and 18 District Armed Reserve vans would also be on duty.
