Municipal Administration and Minority Affairs Minister Qamarul Islam has said a proposal would be placed before the government to allot 50 per cent of the layout to be developed by the Kalaburagi Urban Development Authority (KUDA) at Hagarga village, in the outskirts of the city, to the original owners of the land.

Presiding over a meeting recently with the owners of the 229 acres acquired for the layout, Mr. Qamarul said KUDA would enter into an agreement with the owners after getting approval from the government.

As per the proposal, KUDA will develop the residential layout and hand over half of it to the owners, instead of giving them compensation. The owners would be free to sell it on their own.

The Minister added that housing sites of various sizes (20x30 ft, 30x40 ft, 40x60 ft and 50x80 ft) would be developed.

They will be divided on a 50:50 basis, but KUDA will have right over the civic amenity sites, corner plots and the park in the layout.

The total project cost, including laying of roads, underground drainage system, electricity connection and other amenities, would be about Rs.150 crore.

KUDA chairman Mohammad Asgar Chulbul, Mayor Syed Ahmed, and KUDA members Shamrao Natikar and Nagamma Vanti were present.
