A fight broke out between two groups in Nagaral village in Chikkodi taluk when miscreants threw stones at a Ambedkar Jayanti celebration procession on Monday.

As many as 15 persons received injuries. They were treated as outpatients in Chikkodi and discharged. The police arrested 20 persons.

Some houses, shops and around 20 motorbikes and five cars and vans were damaged in the stone-throwing.

District Police who were present controlled the crowd in minutes. Central security forces who were stationed in Chikkodi were rushed to the spot. Around 100 Central and State police personnel are camping in the village now. Superintendent of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy said that the situation was peaceful and under control.
