Former Chief Minister and BJP State president B.S. Yeddyurappa has said that the Siddaramaiah government has been looting the State exchequer, instead of safeguarding the interests of people of the State.

Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday during a stopover on his way to Dharwad, he said the countdown had begun for the Congress government.

He alleged that Mr. Siddaramaiah and his Cabinet colleagues had no respect for the Supreme Court order. “After the court ordered for handing over the Dy.SP M.K. Ganapathy case to the CBI, the investigating agency filed an FIR naming Minister K.G. George as first accused. If Mr. Siddramaiah had any respect for the apex court, he should have immediately sought Mr. George’s resignation. Instead, he is protecting him,” Mr. Yeddyurappa said.

Although non-bailable charges had been made against the Minister, Mr. Siddaramaiah was now saying that they would wait till the chargesheet was filed, he said. “As a result of the corrupt practices by the Congress government, the State has become bankrupt. And to cover it up, properties were being mortgaged to raise loans,” Mr. Yeddyurappa said.

On the Nava Karnataka Parivartana Yatra, he said BJP national president Amit Shah would launch the yatra from Bengaluru and around 3 lakh people were expected to participate. To a query, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that some MLAs from other parties were in talks with BJP to join the party.

Rubbishing allegations about discrepancies in power purchase during the BJP rule, Mr. Yeddyurappa sought to know why the Congress government was sitting quiet all these years.

He also assured that efforts would be made to convince Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to sort out the Mahadayi issue.
