Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and MLA Govind Karjol has filed a complaint of breach of privilege against Excise Minister R.B. Thimmapur with Speaker K. B. Koliwad.

Raising the issue in the Assembly on Monday, Mr. Karjol accused the Minister of conducting a ground-breaking ceremony for a development scheme in his constituency without informing him.

Pointing out that protocols concerned had banned holding of such events without inviting the local MLA, he demanded that the officials who attended such a programme should be suspended in a bid to send a stern message against such violation of norms.

Responding to this, the Speaker said he would get a report on the issue from the officials concerned and then decide on the future course of action.

Meanwhile, Mr. Karjol had embarrassing moments too as Congress member Shivanand Patil accused him of inaugurating a development work in his constituency without inviting when he (Mr. Karjol) was Minister.
