“There is scope for improvement and good practices must go on for the city to be on top in the years ahead,” said Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, who along with her adopted son, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, are brand ambassadors of the Swachh Bharat Mission. Last year, Ms. Wadiyar and her son accepted the MCC’s request to be ambassadors. “All credit should go to the people of Mysuru and the MCC staff. I am very happy the city continues to be on top in sanitation, which is a great achievement,” she told The Hindu . Ms. Wadiyar said the city cannot stop at this achievement and has to continue to come up with new initiatives that help to hold on to the tag. She suggested that Mysuru be “plastic-free” if sustainable solutions are found to the problem. “It cannot happen overnight, but let it happen step by step.” Ms. Wadiyar said, “We became brand ambassadors only recently and don’t want to take credit for the achievement.”
Asked whether they will continue to discharge the role of brand ambassadors, she said, “We will continue the role if they (MCC) tell us.”
