The three magnificent and ancient monuments of Gol Gumbaz, Sangeet Mahal and Gagan Mahal have been decorated with vivid coloured lights as part of Navaraspur Utsav, which is set to be a memorable experience for art and culture lovers for three days, starting Friday.
The cultural extravaganza which is being held in the historic city after the gap of four years, is already drawing crowd, mainly at night to see the marvellous illuminated monuments.
Sangeet Mahal, where the inaugural event would be held, has been specially decorated. While a large permanent stage has been constructed, an ancient pond has been filled with water and colourful fountains have been installed.
Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Harsha Shetty told media persons that as a special attraction, the largesize portraits of all the eight Adil Shahi emperors would be placed at Gol Gumbaz, prepared by the artists of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat, Bengaluru.
“Similarly, some 45 paintings would also be displayed at Nari Mahal next to Sangeet Mahal”, he said.
Meanwhile, District Incharge Minister, M. B. Patil who inspected the venues along with Deputy Commissioner, D. Randeep and other officials on Thursday, assured to explore the possibility of restoring the damaged portions of Sangeet Mahal with the help of Archeological Survey of India (ASI).
Two-day holiday for school children
Mr. Patil has said that the a decision has been taken to declare a two-day holiday (Friday and Saturday) to all the schools of the city for enabling the students to enjoy Navaraspur Utsav.
He told presspersons that since the participation of the students was important the holidays have been declared. “The officials of education department, however have been directed to ensure that the twoday syllabus is covered on other holidays”, he said.
