Ganja smuggler arrested

The principal district and session’s court sentenced a person to 12 years imprisonment for smuggling ganja in Bidar.

Judge Hanchate Sanjiv Kumar, also slapped a fine of Rs. 1 lakh on Hassan Sheikh (36) of Jannat Nagar in Hubballi, for smuggling the banned substance three years ago.

A sub-inspector of excise had arrested the accused on Janawada Road in Bidar in March 2012 and seized 25 kilograms of ganja. He faced charges under Narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances Act. Public prosecutor Ramachandra Lamani argued for Karnataka.
