The Mysuru district police have arrested a notorious gang of inter-state burglars, who had broken into more than 58 houses across Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and recovered stolen goods worth Rs. 32 lakh.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Friday afternoon, Mysuru District Superintendent of Police Abhinav Khare said the police had picked up the main accused Nayeem Khan (26) and Sabir Khan (29) from Munjanahalli in K.R. Nagar from a hotel situated in a farmhouse on Mysuru-Hassan highway on July 22 in connection with serial burglary that had rocked K.R. Nagar town in November 2014.

Based on the information provided by the duo, the third accused Majid was arrested from Mysuru City on July 23. During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in 16 cases of house burglary in different parts of Karnataka including the three cases in K.R. Nagar town. The accused were also involved in 42 other cases of theft and house burglary in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Khare said.

Police have recovered 800 grams of stolen gold jewellery, valued at Rs. 26 lakh, besides a Ford Ikon, Pulsar motorcycle, refrigerator and other furniture worth Rs. 6 lakh from the accused.
