Free Wi-Fi in all districts soon

The State government is considering extending the free Wi-Fi facility, now being provided in some areas, to the entire State, according to Minister for IT and Biotechnology S.R. Patil. A final decision in this regard, however, is yet to be taken.

In his written reply to Congress member Yashavantarayagouda Patil in the Assembly on Thursday, the Minister said presently, the government was preparing the request for proposal (RFP) documents to invite bids from companies to provide free Wi-Fi in Bengaluru and prominent places of all districts.

He said presently, free Wi-Fi was being provided in parts of Bengaluru, Mysuru and Bagalkot.
